The “On the Go!” Travel Station is a customer information kiosk for the New York City subway and rail stations. The sleek stainless steel enclosure is extremely durable, easy to maintain, friendly and welcoming. It comes in free-standing and wall-mounted versions. The kiosk features a large touch screen. The high contrast interface is easy to use and provides customers all the information they need to successfully navigate the system. It includes real-time service status, maps, trip planner, planned work and neighborhood specific infos. The lower portion of the screen features advertising which pays for the cost of the kiosks. Wheelchair users can flip the touch-screen interface, moving the advertising to the top and bringing all interactive features within reach. Five stations (Grand Central, Penn Station, Bowling Green, Atlantic Avenue, Jackson Heights-Roosevelt Avenue) have been equipped with the pilot units and upon successful completion of the pilot phase, many more are slated to come.
