The bUNIT design was done in collaboration with Bloomberg and is the intellectual property of Bloomberg. The bUNIT is a biometric security card which serves as a physical entry point to various Bloomberg services. Credit-card-sized, it features a fingerprint scanner, a status screen, a photo sensor and a series of microchips.

The bUNIT scans the user's fingerprint and, upon successful authentication, provides access to Bloomberg software, information and services. It also manages building access via the same fingerprint scanning. The beauty of the bUNIT is that it stores the fingerprint information on the card itself, not on any central server. This means it safeguards a very private information by leaving it with the user, while providing reliable security to the system and buildings. The bUNIT is a rather precious looking object made out of aluminum and chrome-plated parts.
